Spotlight Records is thrilled to announce the release of "Dance Like We Are Lovers,” the fierce new single by Michael Cignarale: a true diva, renowned producer, and one of the driving forces behind Shanghai's legendary queer party MEDUSA. Their paths first crossed when Cignarale invited label boss Chris Cruse to play as a guest. Cruse recalls, “I couldn't believe a queer party like this was thriving in China, and Michael's hybrid DJ/live PA set that night blew me away. He had the whole place going wild." "Dance Like We Are Lovers" is a deep, sultry, throbbing track, featuring Cignarale's almost-whispered vocals. It was born after a sizzling night out in Brooklyn, where he had relocated post-pandemic. Cruse was instantly struck by the distinct energy of the track - "I played it that weekend when I closed at Snax. It went off.” The EP's throbbing, foggy, and disorientating sound totally aligns with the spirit of Spotlight Records. Having heard the versatility and range of possibilities for the track, Chris invited an equally fierce duo of remixers to re-envision it. Justin Cudmore, a close friend and immensely talented producer, provides a pacy, driving take on the original. He's joined by the rapidly-rising talent, BASHKKA - delivering her first-ever Remix - with a tough and thumping twist in her Unholy Hour revision. The single and package, including the stripped-down B-side Percapella tool, is a brilliant example of the vibrant energy and vision of Michael Cignarale. Let's Dance!
